[12/03/2018] The mission of the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership is to improve Shiawassee County’s economy through business attraction, retention, and expansion. With 24 board members, an investor list of over 150, and an annual budget of $400,000 the SEDP promotes economic growth with proven results in the county. The SEDP attracts businesses from Michigan and the nation through regional cooperation and trade shows, where they tout the benefits of the county, and the multiple reasons for locating a business here.
The SEDP also helps current businesses – members or not – with help in expanding their workforce, moving to a new location, seeking training, and finding the right vendor. The SEDP provides consulting services as well as recruiting services for business which are expanding, moving, or adding staff.
The SEDP brings a variety of tools for businesses that are considering moving out of the area by understanding the reasons for the move and then marshaling the current, present, but unknown, resources to keep the businesses here and improve their operations and profits.
DayStarr is an investor in the SEDP and has a seat on the board. Although the SEDP is a separate organization from the chamber, the offices are next to the chamber on the second floor of the beautiful, historic Armory building.
