[12/03/2018] Meet the newest addition to the DayStarr Team: Mandy Rose, DayStarr’s new Director of Marketing. She joined us back in September and has been a great addition to the team.

Mandy is responsible for overseeing the marketing plan, providing insight to website designs, handling graphic design, managing social media platforms, and overseeing community events. She will also oversee the distribution and implementation of promotions, advertisements and other forms of external communication for DayStarr.

When we asked her what her favorite part of working at DayStarr is, she said, “The people.” She further explained, “DayStarr has been a wonderful company to work for and the people are a big part of that. Everyone here has been so helpful and has answered every question I’ve had. From my first day, I have felt included and a part of the team like I have been here for years. It is a great, positive, and supportive work environment, and I feel we are truly a big, happy DayStarr family.”

Mandy was raised in Corunna and attended Corunna High School. After high school she attended Ferris State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was a member of the American Marketing Association. Prior to DayStarr, Mandy was marketing for Security Credit Union with marketing efforts mostly focused in Genesee County. “I am excited to be getting involved in Owosso and Shiawassee County again. It is a wonderful community to be involved in, and DayStarr has great services to offer Owosso as well as other surrounding areas,” Mandy explained

On a personal note, Mandy enjoys spending time with family and friends and being involved in her church. She also spends time drinking coffee at Foster Coffee Company and working out at the Shiawassee Family YMCA where she met her husband. Mandy’s husband, Casey, may look familiar to long time DayStarr customers as he used to be our Outside Plant Manager before joining the Military.

Mandy is looking forward to implementing all of the marketing plans she has for DayStarr, saying, “Keep a lookout for our logo as we grow in the community and as a company.”

With 24 board members, an investor list of over 150, and an annual budget of $400,000 the SEDP promotes economic growth with proven results in the county. The SEDP attracts businesses from Michigan and the nation through regional cooperation and trade shows, where they tout the benefits of the county, and the multiple reasons for locating a business here.

The SEDP also helps current businesses – members or not – with help in expanding their workforce, moving to a new location, seeking training, and finding the right vendor. The SEDP provides consulting services as well as recruiting services for business which are expanding, moving, or adding staff.

The SEDP brings a variety of tools for businesses that are considering moving out of the area by understanding the reasons for the move and then marshaling the current, present, but unknown, resources to keep the businesses here and improve their operations and profits.

DayStarr is an investor in the SEDP and has a seat on the board.  Although the SEDP is a separate organization from the chamber, the offices are next to the chamber on the second floor of the beautiful, historic Armory building.

[12/03/2018] If you like/follow us on Facebook or have come into our office lately, I’m sure you’ve seen our Facebook Like Counter… on our counter. The counter on the counter is a live tracker of how many likes we have on Facebook. You can watch your like happen in real-time when you visit us.

Why did we buy a counter? Well we have a goal (or you may say a mission) to reach 1000 likes on our Facebook page. The counter is a fun way to track that. “It’s been fun having the counter in the office,” explained Rachel, DayStarr Customer Service Representative. “Each time we get a like you can hear the counter number flipping and it’s not uncommon to then hear someone excitedly say ‘We got another like!’ We have fun with it.”

If you haven’t already, we’d love to have you look us up on Facebook. Better yet, come down to the office and watch your like happen in real-time.

[12/03/2018] We are currently working on SC14, which will be done in a few weeks. Earlier this summer we completed SC15.

Our crew has been working hard the past few months. With the completion of these two SC’s, or service areas, we have the ability to provide service to 750 new homes this year.

Where are we going next?? Our next area of focus will be what we call SC11A. This picks up from W. King Street/Cleveland Ave. and continues south to M-21 as shown in the image above. This will also cover residences east of Cleveland Ave and north of M-21 as far to the east as Elliot Street. Watch for our crews to be working in your area and make sure to thank them for helping bring you the fastest and most reliable internet available!

As we continue to grow, we look forward to providing service to more of Owosso and surrounding areas.

[12/03/2018] In August, the DayStarr Team participated in a day of giving back to serve our community. We schedule days of service about twice a year. We still attend to emergencies on these days, but our office is closed for regular business. You will see our staff around the community helping local businesses and non-profit organizations.

This summer “Give Back” day included The Respite House in Owosso and The Child Advocacy Center. We assisted with yard work, painted, stained and made some necessary updates.

“We set aside these days to stay involved in the community. They also serve as great team building experiences for our employees,” explained President, Collin Rose.
